Sebbene siano studi in vitro, e quindi da valutare con una certa prudenza specie sul fronte delle possibili implicazioni cliniche queste ricerche pongono l’accento sul fatto che lo sbiancamento è una procedura che inevitabilmente comporta delle alterazioni della struttura dello smalto e della dentina. Bisogna però ricordare che queste alterazioni sono normalmente transitorie poiché il dente è un organo che ha una sua dinamicità, e scambia sostanze con l’ambiente circostante. Quindi, ad esempio, è possibile indurre una ri-mineralizzazione del dente stesso
Insomma lo sbiancamento dentale, se effettuato da uno specialista, non è dannoso per i denti nel lungo periodo. Dannosi sarebbero invece tutti quei trattamenti fai da te che si acquistano in farmacia o al supermercato e che invece metterebbero a repentaglio la salute dei denti.
