La sindrome di Lambert – Eaton è una patologia rara che coinvolge i nervi ed i muscoli, provocando un forte senso di debolezza a causa delle difficili comunicazioni tra i due.
Le cause di questa patologia sono dovute quando le cellule dei nervi non rilasciano abbastanza acetilcolina, una sostanza chimica che ha la funzione di trasmettitore di impulsi tra nervi e muscoli e questo porta come risultato la debolezza muscolare.

I sintomi più comuni di questa patologia sono più comuni sono: la debolezza o la parziale perdita di movimento che varia da persona a persona e può comprendere una difficoltà a masticare, o a salire le scale, oppure ad alzare oggetti o a parlare.
Insorgono anche alcune difficoltà di deglutizione, che possono provocare dei conati di vomito o soffocamento; ci sono anche problemi visivi come vista offuscata o sdoppiata; cambiamenti repentini della pressione sanguigna; senso di vertigine quando si sta in piedi e difficoltà ad alzarsi senza usare le mani come appoggio.
