Scroto gonfio, quali sono le cause? Si parla di gonfiore scrotale quando lo scroto (sacca che accoglie i testicoli) si mostra ingrandito rispetto al solito. In genere a povocarlo è un infortunio diretto oppure può essere il sintomo di una malattia di base caratterizzata da un accumulo anomalo di liquidi, infiammazione o anormale crescita di un tessuto al suo interno. Può essere accompagnato da dolore o essere totalmente asintomatico a seconda dei casi. Vediamo insieme nel dettaglio le cause più frequenti.

  1. Ernia inguinale

L’ernia si verifica quando un organo spinge attraverso un’apertura nel muscolo o tessuto che mantiene in posizione. Le ernie inguinali sono il tipo più comune di ernia e si verifiano quando gli intestini spingono attraverso un punto debole o lacerazione nella parete addominale inferiore, spesso nel canale inguinale. Negli uomini, è l’area dove il funicolo spermatico passa dall’addome allo scroto. Questo tipo di ernia è più comune negli uomini che nelle donne. Questo perché i testicoli di un uomo scendono attraverso il canale inguinale poco dopo la nascita, e il canale si chiude quasi completamente dietro di loro. A volte, il canale non si chiude correttamente e lascia una zona indebolita soggetta a ernie. Da cui l’eventuale successivo gonfiore dello scroto.

 

2. Gonfiore scroto dopo intervento di ernia

Può capitare che dopo un intervento chirurgico per ernia inguinale, prostata, idrocele o varicocele o comunque nell’area genitale si possa sviluppare un’edema nella parte che tuttavia tenderà a scomparire nell’arco di qualche settimana. Opportuno sarà sempre parlarne con il proprio chirurgo.

 

3. Idrocele

Con questo termine si indica una “raccolta” di liquidi intorno al testicolo nella sacca scrotale. Solitamente è indolore, ma ben visibile e rende lo scroto gonfio e teso. Colpisce più comunemente nei bambini, ma è riscontro possibile ad ogni età.

 

4. Torsione dei testicoli

Assolutamente è un’emergenza medica, di quelle che necessitano una corsa rapida al pronto soccorso! La torsione dei testicoli (o torsione testicolare) si verifica quando il funicolo spermatico si contorce per qualche motivo provocando una restrizione del flusso di sangue ai testicoli, con conseguente dolore ed eventuali danni se non trattato subito.

 

 

5. Epididimite

L’epididimite è un’infiammazione dell’epididimo, un tubicino situato sul retro dei testicoli. Tale infiammazione provoca un rigonfiamento dello scroto.

 

6. Orchite

L’orchite è invece l’infiammazione dei testicoli: può essere provocata da un’infezione batterica o virale, più comunemente dal virus della parotite (gli orecchioni). Da qui il rischio per gli uomini nel contrarre gli orecchioni da adulti .

 

7. Varicocele

Un’anomalia venosa nello scroto può causare un varicocele. Questo può portare alla ridotta quantità o qualità di spermatozoi con una riduzione dei testicoli, ma anche gonfiore scrotale.

8. Cancro ai testicoli

Il cancro del testicolo è un tumore che ha origine in uno o entrambi i testicoli: il tessuto neoplastico che cresce in eccesso può dare origine ad un visibile gonfiore dello scroto.

 

9. Insufficienza cardiaca congestizia

L’insufficienza cardiaca congestizia (CHF) è una condizione cronica che riguarda la funzionalità delle camere del cuore. Questo può provocare accumulo di liquidi anche nella parte bassa del corpo (edema) oltre che intorno al cuore o ai polmoni, nonché allo scroto, con conseguente gonfiore.
