Trasfusioni in Italia sempre più sicure, nessuna infezione da epatiti e Hiv da 10 anni: a dichiararlo è il Centro Nazionale Sangue, organo tecnico del Ministero della Salute e Autorità Competente con funzioni di coordinamento e controllo tecnico-scientifico del sistema trasfusionale nazionale, in riferimento alla sentenza di ieri della Corte D’Appello di Roma sugli indennizzi.
Giancarlo Maria Liumbruno, Direttore generale del Centro, riporta i dati incoraggianti emersi a fronte di una analisi degli ultimi dieci anni di trasfusioni di sangue in Italia.
In virtù dei suddetti interventi, il rischio residuo di contrarre un’infezione a seguito di una trasfusione di sangue è prossimo allo zero, come ampiamente dimostrato dal sistema di sorveglianza nazionale coordinato dal Centro Nazionale Sangue. A fronte di più di 3 milioni di emocomponenti trasfusi ogni anno (8.349 emocomponenti trasfusi ogni giorno), da oltre dieci anni in Italia non sono state segnalate infezioni post-trasfusionali da HIV, virus dell’epatite B e virus dell’epatite C. Le sentenze della magistratura che vengono riportate periodicamente dai media si riferiscono a trasfusioni avvenute negli anni ’80 e ’90, quando il sistema di vigilanza e le stesse conoscenze scientifiche erano molto diverse
Tanti dunque i passi in avanti fatti dall’Italia in materia di qualità e sicurezza e dati che fanno ben sperare tutte quelle persone che sono alle prese con la neccessità di trasfusioni di sangue.
