L‘obesità infantile è un rischio concreto in Italia dove moltissimi non fanno sport e non seguono un’alimentazione adeguata. A lanciare l’allarme è è il presidente della Società italiana di pediatria, Alberto Villani, presentando la Consensus su diagnosi, trattamento e prevenzione dell’obesità del bambino e dell’adolescente realizzata dalla Sip e dalla Società italiana di endocrinologia e diabetologia pediatrica.
E’ importante che i bambini siano seguiti fin da subito, per ridurre al minimo i rischi che diventino prima in sovrappeso e poi obesi. Purtroppo ad oggi in Italia, stando ai dati emersi al Congresso Internazionale Icamp 2017, i bambini dagli 8 ai 12 anni hanno una prevalenza di obesità pari al 12% e una prevalenza di sovrappeso pari al 24%. Dice Alberto Villani:
Circa il 50% degli adolescenti obesi rischia di esserlo anche da adulti. Ma ciò che desta più allarme sono i dati sulle complicanze fisiche e psicosociali già presenti nell’infanzia e che tendono ad aggravarsi in età adulta. La parola d’ordine è prevenzione, e bisogna iniziare già a 6 anni a cercare alterazioni metaboliche spia. Ma i primi 1000 giorni sono cruciali per impostare comportamenti alimentari e uno stile di vita corretto
