È capitato a tutti di avere la sensazione di secchezza oculare: gli occhi si seccano e la sensazione è che all’interno ci siano dei granelli di sabbia. La secchezza oculare può dipendere da diversi fattori, dall’eccesso di esposizione all’aria climatizzata allo smog, a un’alimentazione carente di acqua e vitamine.
Tra le cause più frequenti della secchezza oculare possiamo segnalare senza dubbio lo smog, le troppe ore trascorse davanti allo schermo del computer o l’utilizzo di cosmetici sbagliati e dannosi per i nostri occhi. Restare ore e ore davanti al computer è una delle situazioni più pericolose per uomini e donne: quando si guarda lo schermo si mette continuamente a fuoco e le lacrime tendo ad evaporare. Il rimedio-prevenzione è di fare delle soste di 5-10 minuti ogni ora e in una situazione particolarmente difficile è anche possibile utilizzare le lacrime artificiali. Sono disponibili in gel o in collirio: sono a base di acido ialuronico o metilcellulosa) e idratano la superficie dell’occhio aiutando anche la rigenerazione delle lacrime.
COME COMBATTERE LA DISIDRATAZIONE NEGLI OCCHI
Se la secchezza oculare si associa anche all’arrossamento della congiuntiva, allora è possibile che la causa risieda nelle sostanze inquinanti o irritanti (tra cui anche il cloro della piscina). In questo caso è necessario ricorrere a un collirio che abbia azione antinfiammatoria e decongestionante che stimolano la lacrimazione, ma anche l’eliminazione di corpuscoli estranei all’interno dell’occhio.
Nel caso in cui la secchezza si associ all’irritazione delle palpebre il problema potrebbe risiedere nei cosmetici per occhi sbagliati: attenzione a matite, mascara e ombretti e attenzione anche a non spalmare le creme idratanti troppo vicine agli occhi. In questo caso è bene interrompere subito l’utilizzo di questi cosmetici e utilizzare salviette monouso struccanti.
