Dunque quali sono le cause più comuni di perdita di memoria? Ansia, stress e depressione! La perdita di memoria è il risultato di scarsa concentrazione, di mancanza di interesse nel memorizzare qualcosa, spesso connesse a tali condizioni di salute. Anche i problemi di sonno spesso peggiorano la memoria. Tra le altre cause comuni troviamo il trauma cranico e l’ictus. Questi possono provocare improvvise perdite di memoria, in cui si dimenticano gli eventi accaduti prima del trauma (amnesia retrograda), o si dimentica tutto quello che è accaduto dopo il trauma (amnesia anterograda).

Cause meno comuni amnesia

Meno comunemente, la perdita di memoria può essere causata da:
• ipotiroidismo
• alcuni tipi di farmaci, come i sedativi o trattamenti per il Parkinson
• Emorragia cerebrale (subaracnoidea)
• Carenza di Vitamina B1 (tiamina)
• amnesia globale transitoria – problemi di circolazione sanguigna in una parte del cervello, che causa improvvisi episodi di perdita di memoria
• amnesia psicogena – un evento stressante o traumatico che blocca la memoria, rendendo impossibile ricordare informazioni importanti
• tumore al cervello

 

Che fare?

Per far fronte a scarsa memoria è possibile utilizzare alcuni accorgimenti, come i seguenti:
• Tenere oggetti di uso quotidiano, come ad esempio le chiavi della macchina, nello stesso luogo e cercare di fare le cose nello stesso ordine ogni volta.
• Scrivere le informazioni necessarie su un foglio a vista, e tenere carta e una matita vicino al telefono.
• Tenere un’agenda a casa e sul posto di lavoro per ricordare le attività quotidiane da svolgere.
• Utilizzare un allarme per ricordare di fare qualcosa in futuro, come prendere qualcosa dal forno.
• Ripetere informazioni importanti che dovete ricordare di nuovo a qualcuno.
