L’epilessia, come forse già saprete, sarebbe una terribile patologia neurologica e cerebrale che, ogni anno, sarebbe in grado di colpire oltre 30.000 persone in tutta Europa con conseguenze e ripercussioni, sia sulla propria salute psichica e fisica che, soprattutto, sulla propria vita privata e sociale, seriamente debilitanti nonché, purtroppo, di difficile se non impossibile intuizione, comprensione e condivisione.

La Giornata Nazionale dell’Epilessia, tenutasi in tutta Italia nelle giornate di sabato 5 maggio 2012 e domenica 6 maggio 2012, avrebbe contribuito a fare chiarezza su questa malattia, ancora sconosciuta da una vasta porzione della popolazione italiana, svelandone e chiarendone alcuni dei propri più particolari e caratteristici meccanismi.

Discriminante di ogni crisi epilettica sarebbe la manifestazione della stessa poiché, a seconda dell’area cerebrale colpita, nonché della vastità, dell’intensità e della profondità della su indicata “scarica” parossistica, la sintomatologia caratterizzante l’epilessia potrebbe cambiare di crisi epilettica in crisi epilettica esprimendosi sia grazie ad un crisi convulsiva tipo grande male o tonico-clonica (caratteristica delle forme epilettiche generalizzate) sia grazie a tutta una serie di sintomi meno evidenti (quali, a titolo puramente esplicativo, crisi sensoriali piuttosto che cognitive) nel caso, non infrequente, in cui si trovi a confrontarsi con una forma epilettica parziale o semplice.
