L’apnea notturna è causa di incidenti, anche gravi. Ad affermarlo è la professoressa Anna Caparra, Responsabile del Centro di Ipertensione della I Clinica Medica Policlinico Umberto I di Roma, che in occasione del Convegno “L’ipertensione in un giorno” tenutosi nella Aula Magna dell’Ateneo, ha detto:
La sonnolenza diurna, conseguenza dell’apnea notturna, può essere causa di gravi incidenti. Spero che la proposta di legge venga recepita, ed ancor di più che ci sia la consapevolezza di auto-proporsi per una diagnosi, e non di nascondersi per avere il rinnovo della patente, ma curarsi
Ma che cosa è nello specifico l’apnea notturna? Lo spiega sempre la professoressa Anna Caparra:
Sta per Sindrome delle Apnee Ostruttive del Sonno, ed è un nuovo, ma importante fattore di rischio indipendente per le malattie cardiovascolari, neurologiche e metaboliche. Circa il 20% della popolazione italiana soffre di OSAS anche se, purtroppo, ad oggi rimane una patologia poco diagnosticata, in quanto poco conosciuta, ma che ha messo in allarme l’Europa tanto che, una sua direttiva, ha invitato i rispettivi governi a regolarizzare le normative per il rilascio ed il rinnovo della patente in funzione all’eccessivo numero di incidenti stradali causati dalla patologia
PERCHE’ QUANDO SI DORME SI RUSSA?
Importante è dunque riconoscere il problema e cercare di trattarlo nel migliore dei modi, perché l’apnea notturna è a tutti gli effetti una patologia e come tale deve essere trattata. Per evitare conseguenze spiacevoli, dunque, è fondamentale curare il disturbo in modo coscienzioso e professionale.
