L’ avversione al sesso è un disturbo che presenta un’ intensa avversione al contatto sessuale o a parti del medesimo come ad esempio, l’avversione alla vista del pene o dello sperma o addirittura ad essere soltanto toccati.
Questa è una forma estrema di disturbo dell’ eccitazione e va sovente di pari passo con uno scarso interesse sessuale.
Le cause fisiche di questo problema possono essere originate da disturbi della regolazione ormonale; esiste una personalità sessuale che è attualmente in fase di studio, le cui conseguenze sono la mancanza di ogni stimolo e interesse nei confronti dei contatti sessuali.



Questo perchè presumibilmente vi è una mancanza nell’ organismo di una specifica sostanza stimolante; ciò detto però può anche valere per chi in età infantile ha subito una violenza e quindi nell’età adulta ha sviluppato un’ avversione molto forte nei confronti di qualsiasi attività sessuale, ma può anche derivare da un’ intenso stress a cui la persona è sottoposta, o l’abuso di alcol o di droghe, oppure la paura di una gravidanza, la depressione o la difficoltà ad avere relazioni sociali.
I sintomi sono prevalentemente un’ intensa avversione verso qualsiasi forma di contatto sessuale già soltanto per carezze o baci, il desiderio di porre fine immediatamente a qualsiasi tipo di contatto intimo ed un evidente disagio.
Il trattamento quindi varia a seconda di quelle che sono le cause in gioco e può anche essere necessario l’ uso di psicofarmaci come gli antidepressivi.
Questa malattia può essere anche curata in modo progressivo come per gli attacchi di panico, esponendo il paziente poco per volta all’oggetto delle sue paure.
Se invece, alla base vi è una violenza subita, bisogna poterne discutere e non ignorarle.
