L’ansia è in grado di manifestarsi attraverso sintomi sia fisici che emotivi. In una situazione specifica, questi possono insorgere insieme, e durare per un breve o lungo periodo per poi scomparire.

Tra i sintomi fisici dell’ansia si includono:

Perciò diventano maggiormente difficoltose le relazioni, sia dal punto di vista creativo che funzionale.

Le sintomatologie di tipo emotivo dell’ansia includono:

* Irrequietezza, irritabilità, agitazione.
* Le preoccupazioni prendono il sopravvento sul resto.
* Costante timore che stia per accadere qualcosa di brutto.
* Sensazione di essere condannati o destinati a fallire.

Quando l’ansia si manifesta con questi sintomi in maniera costante e diventa cronica, allora verrà diagnosticato un disturbo d’ansia, a sua volta suddiviso in diverse categorie: disturbo d’ansia generalizzata, fobia sociale, attacchi di panico, e fobie specifiche come il disturbo post traumatico da stress ed il disturbo ossessivo compulsivo.
