Secondo quanto suggerisce uno studio americano pubblicato su Plos One, stringere i pugni aiuterebbe a migliorare la memoria, in particolare stringere a pugno la mano destra servirebbe per memorizzare le cose mentre stringere la sinistra per ricordarle.


Lo studio condotto dai ricercatori della Montclair State University nel New Jersey ha preso in esame 5 gruppi di persone: il primo doveva stringere la mano destra per 90 secondi prima di memorizzare una lista di 72 nomi e quindi fare la stessa cosa prima di ricordarli, il secondo doveva svolgere le stesse operazioni ma solo con la mano sinistra, il terzo gruppo ed il quarto dovevano alternare le due mani, mentre il quinto gruppo è servito come gruppo di controllo, infatti non doveva stringere nessuna mano.

Le performance di chi stringeva la mano destra prima di memorizzare le informazioni e la sinistra prima di ricordarle sono risultate nettamente migliori rispetto a quelle degli altri gruppi, tra cui anche il gruppo di controllo.
