Le proprietà del ribes nero sono anti -infiammatorie, anti -dolorifiche ed anti -allergeniche che sono in parte legate alla sua azione di tipo cortisonosimile, dovuta ad uno stimolo diretto sulla corteccia surrenalica che stimola per l’appunto la produzione di steroidi surrenalinici.
Soprattutto in primavera, il ribes nero viene utilizzato per combattere gli allergeni che provocano delle spiacevoli allergie cutanee e in particolar modo respiratorie; l’unica controindicazione di questa pianta è che aumenta la pressione sanguigna e quindi è sconsigliata ai soggetti che soffrono di grave ipertensione arteriosa.
