Tutti avranno in qualche modo avuto l’occasione di utilizzare rimedi naturali per combattere la tosse in alternativa ai farmaci forniti dalla medicina ufficiale.

L’uva è uno dei rimedi naturali più efficaci per trattare la tosse, perchè ha un potere espettorante e tonifica i polmoni, talvolta riducendo il malessere causato da raffreddore e tosse in brevissimo tempo. Una tazza di succo d’uva miscelato con un cucchiaino di miele è il modo più efficace per ottenere un rapido effetto lenitivo della tosse.

Le mandorle sono particolarmente utili per la tosse secca. Mettendo a bagno un pugno di mandorle sgusciate per tutta la notte e rimuovendo il giorno successivo la buccia si procede poi schiacciandole fino ad ottenere una pasta fine, a cui si aggiungono burro e zucchero. Tale impasto deve poi essere assunto al mattino ed alla sera.

La cipolla cruda è un ottimo lenitivo della tosse: deve essere tritata finemente per poterne estrarre il succo, che va miscelato con miele in parti uguali, ottenendo così uno sciroppo dalle eccellenti proprietà curative se preso un paio di volte al giorno.

La cipolla è anche molto utile per rimuovere il muco in eccesso: si trita una cipolla aggiungendo all’impasto ottenuto succo di limone ed infine versando sul tutto acqua bollente. Aggiungendo miele si migliora notevolmente il gusto di questo sciroppo, da prendere due o tre volte al giorno.

La radice della curcuma, tostata e ridotta in povere, è anch’essa un ottimo espettorante, presa in dosi da tre grammi al mattino ed alla sera.

La terminalia bellerica è un frutto tropicale facilmente reperibile, che miscelato in giuste dosi con un pizzico di sale, di pepe e di miele è un rimedio naturale conosciuto sin dal medioevo.

Un’altra ottima preparazione contro la tosse la si ottiene macinando uvetta passa con zucchero ed acqua e riscaldando il tutto fino a che non acquisisce una certa consistenza. Il prodotto ricavato si può conservare per diverso tempo, e deve essere preso alla sera prima di dormire.

Tra le tisane più efficaci contro la tosse ritroviamo quella di anice, particolarmente utile sia per la tosse secca che come espettorante se le vie respiratorie sono intasate dal catarro.
