Lo rivelano in uno studio, pubblicato sulla rivista Archives of General Psychiatry, ricercatori dell’Università di Tilburg in Olanda, grazie ad una ricerca su un campione di oltre 1000 persone affette da problemi di cuore.
I ricercatori hanno notato che i soggetti affetti da disturbi d’ansia risultavano avere un rischio del 74% maggiore di eventi cardiovascolari anche gravi.
Il gruppo di pazienti è stato seguito per una media di cinque anni e mezzo, e, nei 106 pazienti affetti da disturbi di ansia il tasso annuale di attacchi di cuore ed altre manifestazioni è stato di circa il 9,6%, mentre nel restante gruppo di 909 pazienti tale tasso restava fermo al 6,6%.
Lo studio ha rilevato inoltre che ben il 24-31% dei pazienti con malattia di cuore manifestava anche sintomi di ansia.
Sono attualmente pochi gli studi che hanno esaminato il ruolo dell’ansia nell’insorgere di problemi cardiovascolari, ed ancora oggi non è ancora chiaro il perchè di questa associazione tra ansia ed attacchi di cuore.
Tre la ipotesi si pensa che ci possa essere un fattore comune che rende le persone sensibili ad ansia e malattie cardiache.
Le ricerche in questa direzione sono ancora molto scarse, e secondo molti ricercatori dovrebbe essere spesa più energia e tempo per indagare a fondo il rapporto esistente tra cattiva salute mentale ed i problemi di cuore.
