La dermatite atopica: un’infiammazione della pelle che provoca bolle e scatena prurito, che anche oggi appare senza soluzione deifnitiva ed affligge soprattutto i bambini.
La più recente scoperta è che la dermatite atopica oltre ad essere determinata da molti fattori, può anche essere scatenata dall’inquinamento.
Sembra infatti che esiste un vero e proprio legame fra la dermatite atopica e l’inquinamento confermato dagli ultimi dati resi noti dall’Organizzazione mondiale della sanità.
Solo in Europa c’è stato un forte incremento di casi di dermatite atopica che adesso colpisce un bambino su due al di sotto dei cinque anni: le cause ella dermatite atopica possono essere diverse, anche di carattere alimentare o ereditario, ma anche l’inquinamento e lo smog finiscono sotto accusa, tanto che secondo l’OMS circa un terzo delle malattie infantili possono essere attribuite all’ambiente malsano.
La dermatite atopica è stato anche uno degli argomenti trattati nel convegno internazionale “L’eccellenza incontra l’eccellenza”, organizzato dalla Federazione italiana medici pediatri: secondo gli esperti la diffusione della dermatite atopica poi sembra essere raddoppiata negli ultimi 30 anni a questa parte nelle aree industrializzate e addirittura triplicata nelle aree ad alto tasso di industrializzazione tanto da diventare nell’arco di pochi anni la malattia cutanea più diffusa dell’età pediatrica.
CURARE LA DERMATITE ATOPICA NEI BAMBINI
Anche se la dermatite atopica può essere diagnosticata, non esistono al momento terapie definitive proprio perché si tratta di una malattia sensibile anche a fattori di carattere ambientale. Si può cercare di monitorare l’evoluzione della dermatite atopica (diminuendo i disturbi più diffusi come prurito, eczemi o secchezza) controllando proprio i fattori estranei all’ambiente.
L’eczema può colpire qualsiasi parte della pelle, anche se generalmente compare su viso, collo, mani, piedi, braccia, dietro le ginocchia, sulle caviglie, parte superiore del torace. Visto che può presentarsi anche in modo intermittente, è molto importante ad esempio utilizzare creme emollienti per tentare di contrastare la secchezza cutanea o ricorrere ad apposite creme antinfiammatorie (quando necessario) a base di cortisone.
Anche l’alimentazione corretta è molto importante: a tavola meglio scegliere frutta e verdura, pesce, fibre e cereali, acqua cercando invece di limitare l’apporto di bibite gassate e di cibi molto raffinati soprattutto in inverno. Con l’apporto del sole infatti la dermatite atopica sembra migliorare.
