Secondo le più recenti statistiche divulgate dalla Società Italiana di Medicina Generale, circa il 25% della popolazione italiana, ovverosia circa 15 milioni di cittadini, soffrirebbe di gravi disturbi di stomaco.

Si stima, infatti, che, nel corso del 2010, la spesa complessiva per problemi connessi ai disagi sopra esposti, siano stati spesi ben 3400 milioni di euro, facendo conquistare all’apparato digerente la medaglia d’argento per quanto riguarda la spesa medica italiana.
