Erik Peper, professore di educazione alla salute presso l’Università di San Francisco e primo autore dello studio, sottolinea:
La dipendenza dall’uso di smartphone inizia a formare connessioni neurologiche nel cervello in modo simile a quelle che si sviluppano in coloro acquisiscono una dipendenza da farmaci oppioidi per alleviare il dolore. Le notifiche ci fanno sentire obbligati a guardarle perché attivano gli stessi percorsi neuronali nel nostro cervello che una volta ci avvisavano di un pericolo imminente, come l’attacco di un predatore
