La ricerca, i cui risultati sono stati pubblicati sulla rivista The Lancet Planetary Health, mostra come i ricoveri per frattura aumentino al crescere dell’inquinamento atmosferico. Lo smog si associa a perdita di densità ossea (condizione tipica dell’osteoporosi) e ridotta concentrazione di ormone paratiroideo nel sangue (l’ormone che presiede all’assorbimento del calcio e ha un ruolo nella mineralizzazione delle ossa).
