Divertirsi con il ballo e abbassare anche la pressione? Non è un miraggio, ma un beneficio concreto offerto dall’hula dance, un po’ danza, un po’ relax.
Ma che cos’è esattamente l’hula dance? Si tratta nel dettaglio di una danza, anzi della tradizionale danza hawaiana sulle dolci note dell’ukulele e magari con tanto di fiore fra i capelli.
Ma c’è una novità: l’hula dance non solo è una danza piacevole, ma anche estremamente utile per poter abbassare la pressione alta.
Se abbinata ai farmaci giusti e a una dieta corretta riesce addirittura a risolvere un problema che i soli farmaci non sarebbero un grado di poter controllare.
Hula dance, lo studio
I benefici della hula dance sono stati suggeriti a partire da uno studio preliminare condotto sui nativi hawaiani e i risultati sembrano essere stai chiari: la fila dance, la tradizionale danza hawaiana potrebbe essere un aiuto concreto per tutti e non solo per gli hawaiani.
Lo sostiene Joseph Keawe’aimoku Kaholokula, ricercatore e autore principale del lavoro nonché presidente del Dipartimento Salute dei nativi hawaiani all’università delle Hawaii di Manoa, Honolulu.
Il ricercatore ha messo in evidenza che spesso e volentieri proprio i nativi hawaiani hanno una certa difficoltà nel controllare la pressione del sangue con la conseguenza di un rischio concreto di malattie coronariche o insorgenza di ictus.
Gli hawaiani e le patologie cardiache
I dati confermano che gli hawaiani soffrono infatti di patologie cardiache e di infarti di un numero maggiore quattro volte più alti rispetto ai bianchi non ispanici e tra l’altro si presentano 10 anni prima che tra gli hawaiani bianchi e asiatici.
Lo studio sugli hawaiani
Lo studio ha preso pertanto in considerazione 250 nativi hawaiani (80% donne) che, nonostante fossero sotto cura con trattamenti antipertensivi mantengano una pressione sistolica fin troppo alta confermando che i soli farmaci non erano sufficienti alla risoluzione della patologia. I partecipanti allo studio sono stati informati sulla dieta, l’esercizio fisico e la corretta assunzione dei farmaci e sono stati divisi in due gruppi distinti.
Il primo gruppo non ha seguito alcun tipo di terapia, l’altro gruppo invece ha assunto medicinali, e ha frequentato classi di hula dance con lezioni di un’ora due volte alla settimana per tre mesi, poi una lezione mensile per altri tre mesi, auto-allenamento, ma anche attività di sensibilizzazione su ipertensione e vita sana.
I risultati non sono tardati ad arrivare visto che dopo sei mesi, chi aveva seguito lezioni di hula dance aveva maggiore probabilità di avere ridotto la pressione sanguigna sotto i 130 mmHg per la massima e gli 80 mmHg per la minima (diastolica), ma anche maggiori possibilità di aver perso oltre 10 mmHg di pressione massima.
In questo modo si riduceva in modo considerevole il rischio di infarto, ictus e scompenso cardiaco con una serie di miglioramenti che proseguivano anche nei mesi successivi mantenendo farmaci abbinati a una dieta corretta e lezioni di hula dance.
