medwt24059Ci siamo: per molti italiani il tempo delle vacanze estive è finalmente arrivato anche se molti non hanno ancora pianificato nulla sperando in un’offerta da last minute.

Attenzione però perché chi soffre di disturbi endocrini, vale a dire di problemi alla tiroide, dovrebbe essere particolarmente attento all’organizzazione della vacanze anche, se pianificate all’ultimo momento. 

Al momento solo oltre sei milioni gli italiani che soffrono di problemi alla tiroide e proprio in base al proprio problema sarebbe necessario scegliere con accortezza il luogo delle vacanze.

 

La dottoressa Silvia Misiti, direttore della fondazione Ibsa per la ricerca scientifica, ricorda che se si soffre di ipotiroidismo significa che la propria tiroide lavora lentamente e produce pochi ormoni: l’ideale in questo caso è trascorrere le vacanze estive al mare.

Generalmente sulle coste l’aria è meno inquinata e questo anche grazie alla presenza dello iodio: raggi solari, vento, temperatura e umidità delle zone di mare rappresentano elementi climatici estremamente benefici per chi soffre di ipotiroidismo.

Altrettanto importante è anche il tipo di dieta che può essere seguita al mare: oltre alla regolare assunzione di acqua, è consigliata una dieta ricca di iodio che si trova soprattutto nei frutti di mare, nei crostacei, ma anche nel pesce azzurro o semplicemente nella frutta o nella verdura coltivate presso le località balneari.

Molto importante anche l’attività fisica che non dovrebbe essere trascurata in nessun momento, neppure durante le vacanze. Sono sufficienti una passeggiata o una corsa di 20-30 minuti sulla spiaggia tutti i giorni in modo tale da poter respirare quotidianamente la giusta quantità di iodio. Esattamente il contrario per chi soffre invece di ipertiroidismo: in questo caso, se la ghiandola genera troppo ormoni tiroidei, la soluzione migliore è trascorrere le vacanze in montagna, in particolare di bassa quota. 

Le patologie della tiroide presentano una maggiore incidenza tra la popolazione femminile (uno dei rischi maggiori è che può causare problemi alla fertilità) e l’Italia resta uno dei Paesi più colpiti al mondo da disfunzioni tiroidee.
