E il segreto dell’eterna giovinezza risiederebbe tutto in un gene, il Sirt3 come è stato scoperto da un gruppo di ricercatori statunitensi autori di uno studio pubblicato sulla rivista Cell Report.
Gli scienziati sostengono che il segreto della giovinezza risiederebbe proprio nella genetica: lo studio infatti ha dimostrato che introducendo il Sirt3 nelle cellule staminali del sangue di topi anziani sarebbe invertito il processo che durante la fase di invecchiamento porta alla riduzione della capacità di produrre nuove cellule ematiche.
Stando così le cose il Sirt3 potrebbe essere appellato davvero come il gene dell’eterna giovinezza anche se naturalmente lo studio è interessante visto che aprirebbe la strada a una serie di trattamenti necessari per poter contrastare le patologie e le malattie associate all’invecchiamento.
Il segreto del Sirt3 risiederebbe nella proteina codificata da questo gene che appartiene alla famiglia delle sirtuine, responsabili del processo di invecchiamento. In pratica secondo i ricercatori la presenza di Sirt3 all’interno delle staminali anziane conferirebbe nuovamente loro l’azione antiossidante persa durante l’invecchiamento andando ancora a proteggere le cellule.

Ciò è dimostrato dal fatto che mentre nelle cellule giovani la presenza di Sirt3 non è indispensabile, nei topi anziani la sua assenza influisce concretamente nella riduzione delle staminali. Tra l’altro, studi recenti hanno già dimostrato che il Sirt3 sia importante anche nella soppressione delle cellule tumorali.
