Nel primo caso esistono dei cerotti molto sottili, di forma quadrata e di colore beige che vanno applicati sulla pelle pulita e asciutta dei glutei, dell’addome, dell’ estremità di un braccio o della parte superiore del ventre ma mai sul seno o nelle prossimità.
Questi cerotti contengono due ormoni femminili, l’etinilestradiolo (estrogeno) e la norelgestromina (progestinico) che rilasciano in modo costante una piccola quantità di queste sostanze a basso dosaggio.
Come per la pillola, vanno applicati il primo gorno di flusso. Il cerotto va lasciato posizionato per sette giorni, trascorsi i quali si procede alla sostituzione.
Dopo tre settimane, ossia all’arrivo del ciclo mestruale si sospende l’assunzione come per la pillola ed al termine della sospensione, se ne applica un altro.
Gli anelli flessibili trasparenti invece vengono inseriti all’interno della vagina da parte della donna e contengono gli stessi principi attivi del cerotto.
Normalmente il primo inserimento va effettuato il quinto giorno del ciclo e deve rimanere sito in vagina per tre settimane, dopodichè va rimosso.
Anche in questo caso bisogna fare una pausa di una settimana in cui, solitamente, compare il ciclo mestruale.
E’ molto importante parlare ai ragazzi di sessualità e di contraccezione per evitare il rischio di gravidanze indesiderate o di malattie sessuali, cercando proprio di anticipare il discorso con i figli quando loro iniziano a fare domande elusive.
