Abbiamo già parlato approfonditamente della gravidanza mese per mese, dai primi tre fino all’ultimo trimestre, parlando dei cambiamenti nel corpo della donna e della crescita del bambino e arrivando fino a spiegare dettagliatamente cosa avviene durante le fasi del parto.
Oggi però vogliamo parlare di un esame molto importante che va effettuato nei primi tre mesi dal concepimento e serve per conoscere possibili malformazioni del feto.



L’esame si chiama Translucenza Nucale ed è un’ecografia che viene eseguita tra l’undicesima e la quattordicesima settimana e serve per determinare il possibile rischio statistico per la sindrome di Down ed altre possibili patologie cromosomiche.
L’esame consiste nella misurazione della distanza tra i muscoli paravertebrali e la pelle nella parte posteriore del collo; se lo spessore è elevato allora vi è il rischio di sindrome di Down e di possibili patologie cardiache.
L’esame non è invasivo e quindi non presenta nessun tipo di rischio nè per la madre nè per il bambino ed il risultato, è bene sottolineare, non è una certezza, ma una possibilità che può essere però stabilita tramite una villocentesi o di un’amniocentesi, esami però che sono invasivi e aumentano la probabilità di aborto spontaneo dello 0,5%.
Alla conclusione di quest’esame, il medico spiega alla paziente se il rischio relativo è peggiorato o migliorato rispetto alle statistiche e quindi decidere di conseguenza se fare altri esami più invasivi.
