I giovani rischiano di sviluppare gravi patologie del fegato a causa del loro stile di vita scorretto. Sotto accusa l’abuso di alcool (che viene concentrato soprattutto nel fine settimana), il consumo eccessivo di junk-food (il cosiddetto cibo spazzatura) e la scarsa attività sportiva.
Tre elementi che combinati potrebbero ulteriormente causare nel corso del tempo delle patologie molto gravi in milioni di giovani e al di là dei virus dell’epatite B e C, i maggiori responsabili della distruzione del fegato. L’allarme viene lanciato in occasione del 63/mo Congresso mondiale della Società americana per lo studio delle malattie del fegato (Aasld) che si tiene a Boston. Secondo i dati rilevati è l’alcool in primis a causare gravi problemi al fegato: si tratta di una sostanza altamente tossica per il fegato di cui andrebbe limitato l’abuso.
Per l’uomo è previsto un consumo massimo di 20 grammi giornalieri (circa un bicchiere e mezzo di vino), per la donna, 15 grammi (un solo bicchiere) da consumare durante i pasti. Sempre più spesso invece i teenager tendono a consumare smisuratamente e lontano dai pasti l’alcool concentrandolo soprattutto durante il weekend: in questo modo il fegato viene sottoposto a un lento, ma inesorabile danneggiamento.
Fra le patologie che possono essere riscontrate non manca ad esempio la steatosi, il cosiddetto fegato grasso che può essere curata, ma che potrebbe portare alla steatoepatite, degenerare nella cirrosi epatica o causare addirittura il cancro. Gli esperti puntano soprattutto sulla prevenzione e sul cambiamento degli scorretti stili di vita dei giovani che potrebbero causare un boom di nuovi gravi malattie in un lasso di tempo di circa 15 anni.
